BPP Virtual Events Coming Up: F & K Award Workshops

F & K Award (Virtual) Workshop Series with Dr. Beth Schachter
Friday, April 24, 2020, 10 AM— 11 AM (F Award Session ONLY)
Monday, April 27, 2020, 10 AM— 11 AM (K Award Session ONLY)

As originally scheduled, we are happy to offer our annual F & K Award workshop series to you online via BlueJeans.  
Registration links and details are provided below!

Dr. Beth Schachter continues her Grantsmanship Workshops that covers NIH F32 fellowships, the K99/R00 Pathway-to-Independence awards for postdoctoral fellows and the other NIH K-type Career Development awards for junior clinical or translational faculty members. 

We’re offering two separate sessions for F Award only and K Award only. Dr. Schachter will make separate videos for each group, covering the research, mentoring and training plans (more details to follow).  F Award session on BlueJeans will take place on Friday, April 24th, 10 AM-11 AM (REGISTER HERE) and K Award session on BlueJeans will take place on Monday, April 27th, 10 AM-11 AM (REGISTER HERE).

One-on-one sessions: After all of the virtual sessions have been completed, Dr. Schachter will offer (20) 45-minute one-on-one sessions to individuals that joined the virtual sessions.  An email will be sent to all participants which will allow the first 20 to sign-up and request the time.  During those individual sessions, Dr. Schachter could read and critique your Aims Page, your Biosketch and/or discuss your mentoring team and training plan with you.  This offer stands for one year after the second video conference.

STEM Industry Postdoc Online Q&A

This program is open to doctoral students and postdocs as part of the Academic Job Search Series on Wednesday, May 6th 2020, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm EDT.

Join us for this informational online Q&A session with Ryan Staupe, Ph.D. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanstaupe/), IGG alum and current postdoctoral fellow at Merck. Dr. Staupe will answer questions that you may have about how to identify and apply for postdoc opportunities in industry. He will provide advice on what you can do when you start your search, and answer any questions you have on where and how you can seek out postdoc opportunities in industry. This discussion will be a valuable resource for anyone considering a postdoc once they have finished with their PhD – even if you are still several years from finishing up right now.

36th Annual MINS UnRetreat Symposium Year of Brain Science Technology

Join the Mahoney Institute for Neurosciences online on April 28th beginning at 9AM for the all-day MINS Year of Brain Science Technology UnRetreat! Guest speakers include, Polina Anikeeva from MIT, Tony Zador from Cold Spring Harbor, and Michael Yartsev from UC Berkeley.

There will be mini symposia on recording/imaging and behavior with Penn faculty speakers, and parallel sessions with short talks. If you are at UPenn, please submit an abstract for short talk sessions. Submissions are open immediately as part of event signup.

The UnRetreat will also feature a “Brain Buddies” matchmaking program that will match registrants with others who have shared interests for future interaction. Regardless where you are, please submit an abstract for one-on-one matching.
