Postdoc Position – Selkoe Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dennis Selkoe at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School to study the molecular basis of Parkinson’s disease and translational research towards therapeutic targets. The lab studies the dynamics of alpha-synuclein and lipid pathways. The work includes lipidomics, metabolomics and protein biochemistry in multiple cellular models of Parkinson’s disease with a focus on patient-derived iPSCs.

Postdoctoral Research Opportunities in Science (PROS) – Apply by 10/20/21

Do you know outstanding Ph.D. students who anticipate graduating by the summer of 2022, and are interested in pursuing postdoctoral training? Postdoctoral Research Opportunities in Science (PROS) allows students to explore the options for postdoctoral training and learn about the resources at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). We facilitate the matching of students with faculty who have aligned interests and provide guidance and support to students through the exploration process. A list of interested faculty who are currently seeking postdoctoral candidates is here.

Selected candidates will be invited for a virtual visit during November 2021 to learn about resources at BCM designed to help postdocs reach their professional goals and meet with faculty and lab groups. Candidates are expected to meet with at least 3 prospective faculty mentors.

The application is due by October 20, 2021.

Baylor College of Medicine provides:

The Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowships and CHOP’s Postdoctoral Fellowships are competitive programs intended to increase the diversity of the academic research community at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). While the Penn and CHOP programs have a common application form, they are independently funded and have separate review processes.

Both organizations seek to attract promising researchers and educators from different backgrounds, races, ethnic groups, and other diverse populations whose life experiences, research experiences and employment backgrounds will contribute significantly to their academic missions.

Fellowships are available for postdoctoral training in all areas of study at either Penn or CHOP. STEM applications are encouraged. Successful candidates will receive mentored scholarly and research training as well as courses and workshops to enhance their research success skills and prepare them for a faculty position in a major university.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents
  • Graduate students from Penn and other institutions who have completed, or will complete their requirements for Ph.D. by the Fellowship start date
  • Postdoctoral scholars from other institutions who have completed their doctoral degree within the last two years
  • Professional applicants (M.D., D.M.D., V.M.D., J.D., etc.) within a year of completing their post-degree professional training
  • Postdocs, residents and fellows who currently have a position at Penn or CHOP are ineligible for this program

Awards:

Fellows receive a stipend of $57,000 a year in year 1 with $2,000 increments in years 2 and 3, as well as annual allowances for travel ($2,000) and research ($4,000), and a one-time relocation expense of up to $5,000. The University and CHOP also provide a medical, vision, dental and life insurance benefits package.

Successful candidates will receive highly mentored scholarly and research training as well as courses and workshops to enhance their professional and research skills and prepare them for positions in a major university, in the private or nonprofit sector, or in government.

Start dates will be arranged in consultation with the faculty mentor to begin as early as July 2022.

Ohio State College of Medicine Virtual Postdoc Recruiting Event

The Office of Postdoctoral Research at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is excited to announce a Virtual 2021 Autumn Postdoctoral Recruitment Event on October 25! Interviews will occur October 26-29.   

This event will provide an excellent opportunity for outstanding postdocs and PhD students from leading graduate programs to meet our research faculty, interview for open postdoctoral positions, and discover the exciting and innovative research taking place at The Ohio State University and the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH). 
 
Application for this event is open to postdocs or senior graduate students who have completed or expect to complete their PhD by December 2021.   

Any candidate can apply. We are especially interested in reviewing applications from permanent residents and US Citizens who are training grant-eligible. Individuals from groups underrepresented in the biomedical workforce are strongly encouraged to apply, including students from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented nationally and individuals with disabilities.     

Selected candidates will be invited to attend a virtual event. There might be opportunities for individuals residing in the United States to interview in-person, depending on the Covid-19 status in October. All participants will learn more about the Ohio State campus and Columbus, Ohio, network with current Ohio State and NCH postdocs, present their research to faculty in a virtual presentation, interview with prospective mentors, and learn about postdoctoral opportunities at Ohio State and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  
 
Candidates selected to participate in the virtual 2021 Autumn Postdoctoral Recruitment Event may be considered for a variety of opportunities at Ohio State, including fellowships, training grants, and other internal training programs.
