Science Beyond Borders 2020: The Urgent Need for International Collaboration

As we come to grips with the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently dominating our lives, the conversation must shift to the imperative role of science diplomacy—the essential need for scientists to work together to solve global problems in spite of differences in our own political ideology or that of the nations from which we hail.

Join us for a one-on-one conversation with Mahlet Mesfin, PhD, Visiting Scholar at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement and author of the recently published article in Foreign Affairs magazine, “It Takes a World to End a Pandemic.” Mesfin will discuss the importance of international science engagement, scientific collaborations, and partnerships in finding solutions to global issue and how she navigated a career in Science Diplomacy after receiving a PhD in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
