SACNAS Outreach Opportunity – Pi Day at Franklin Institute

Join Penn’s SACNAS chapter in celebrating Pi Day at the Franklin Institute on Saturday, March 14 from 10am-2pm!

Pi, the irrational number 3.14159265359…etc., better known as its symbol π, is defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. On Pi day, we will be running an interactive, hands-on booth using PIE fractions to engage the public with everyday math problems in the Franklin Institute. The event runs from 9:45am-2pm, but volunteers are welcome to sign-up in shifts. Volunteers also get free admission to the museum!

PSPDG Navigating the Legislature: How does Congress work?

The process of legislature is complex and confusing, especially when the levels of government work differently. This event will demystify the legislative process in the Federal, State, and local levels of government. An understanding of the inner workings of legislature enables us to answer key questions. Who has the power? How do I reach the people necessary to affect change?

PSPDG What is Science Diplomacy?

And how do you prepare for your future career? Joining us to answer all of your questions is Dr. Franklin A. Carrero-Martínez who is the Senior Director of Global Policy and Development & Science and Technology for Sustainability (STS) at the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).

Postdoc Preview At University Of Michigan Medical School

The application portal is open until March 27 for the University of Michigan’s next postdoctoral recruitment event, Postdoc Preview, May 28-29, 2020. 

During a fully-funded two-day-visit, upper-level graduate students interview with two or more prospective mentors, learn about our excellent resources and NIH-funded training programs, tour campus, and network with current postdocs (tentative schedule here). Applicants are selected from a national pool of candidates who expect to complete their thesis research by December 2020 and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents or currently enrolled in a U.S. graduate institution.  Please visit our site to apply.
