2021 Chemistry-Biology Interface Summer Retreat

The Fellows of the Chemistry-Biology Interface Training Grant would like to invite you to join us for our 2021 Chemistry-Biology Interface Summer Retreat on Thursday, July 29th from 9am-12pm, which will be held virtually over zoom. We are still accepting abstract submissions for short (15 min) oral presentations. Talks may cover any topic within Chemistry and Biology, you will also receive a CBI t-shirt if you participate! The deadline to be considered for a talk is approaching quickly on July 10th. 

Our keynote speakers this year are David Van Valen (Caltech) and Virginia Cornish (Columbia).

PennGGHE and Genetics Symposium on February 24 and 25, 2021

On behalf of Drs. Daniel Rader and Sarah Tishkoff, the Center for Global Genomics & Health Equity and the Department of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine are jointly hosting a virtual symposium entitled, “Importance and Challenges of Increasing Ethnic Diversity in Human Genomics Research”. 

The two-day virtual symposium includes invited speakers of diverse backgrounds discussing their research and experiences in increasing diversity in human genomics and the ethical issues to be considered.  The symposium will be held on Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12:00PM to 4:00PM(EST). The topics of discussion for the two-day virtual symposium are:

Day 1: “Importance and Value of Increasing Ethnic Diversity in Human Genomics Research”

Day 2: “Challenges with Conducting Genomic Studies in Minority Populations”

The symposium is free and faculty, postdocs, students, and staff are all welcome to attend.

The Inscopix DECODE Summit 2020, The State of Mental Health: From Bench to Bedside to A Better World, will take place virtually on Monday, November 9.

The summit will bring together leaders from academia, biopharma, philanthropy, advocacy, and government to put the spotlight on the latest in research and treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders, and to discuss challenges faced by the mental health ecosystem.

Penn Science Policy and Diplomacy Group is proud to present Penn Climate Action Symposium, an event designed to foster community engagement with issues of climate change through global and local routs. Come together with students from University City and members of the greater Philadelphia community to participate in this event featuring World Climate Simulation, a UN-style simulation of climate agreement negotiations, as well as talks and panels on environmental justice and community-based activism.

Climate Action Symposium will take place fully online and will span over two days with World Climate Simulation taking place on October 26 1:00pm-6:00pm and talks and panels taking place on October 27 1:00pm-6:00pm.
