The Research Operations, Management & Strategy (ROMS) Fellowship is a two-year, paid, full-time position at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI. The fellowship is a type of “alternative” postdoctoral experience, designed to transition biomedical Ph.D. graduates and postdoctoral trainees from the research bench to careers in research operations and administration through a series of unit rotations, hands-on learning experiences, and direct mentorship from leaders in the field.
The application for the fellowship is now open and will close on February 19, 2023.
Current fellows will be hosting an informal Q&A-style session on January 19th from 12-1pm EST. Anyone interested can register HERE to receive the Zoom link.

Science Corps – Paid Teaching Fellowship Abroad for STEM PhDs
Are you a recent or soon-to-be PhD graduate? Would you like to spend up to six months making a difference by developing and teaching science curriculum abroad?
Science Corps offers fully paid internships to upcoming and recent PhD graduates (up to four years after graduation) to help build science capacity at one of our host locations – a town on the island of Bohol in the Philippines, a village up in the Indian Himalayas, in the beautiful port city of Tangier, Morocco, and in the bustling city of Dhaka, Bangladesh. They are also currently developing new site partnerships, and are open to a fellow working on site development.
Fellows travel to partner institutions to develop science curriculum, teach in classrooms, train teachers, and build community-based research projects. In addition to building science capacity at these host locations, they also aim to offer fellows a life-changing experience. Fellows are given the opportunity to spend time in beautiful locations, immerse themselves in different cultures, and learn from their host educators, all while making positive contributions to local communities.
They are presently interested in recruiting immediately for fellowships starting this year or early next year. The deadline for this application round is November 15th, but you are still encouraged to contact them if you would like to be considered for a later appointment!

BioSciences Career Fair – September 29-30, 12-4pm
There are two versions of the BioSciences Career Fair this year, with different employers at the in-person and virtual events. Students, postdocs, and alumni will need to register for both events:
- 29th September – in-person (Houston Hall) – registration is open
- 30th September – virtual via Handshake (virtual registration opens on the 22nd September)
Organized by Penn Career Services, these events will be a helpful part of your professional and career development if you are a graduate student or postdoc at Penn interested in internships, industry postdocs, or full-time opportunities in these broad industry areas:
- Biotech/pharma
- Research
- Consulting
- Science/medical communication
- Life science law (including intellectual property/patent law)
- Healthcare
- Data analytics
- And more!
Find a list of currently registered employers in the flyer below. These smaller career fairs are perfect for more meaningful conversations with recruiters about their opportunities, the skills they are seeking, and the best way to apply.
Career fairs are perfect networking and career exploration opportunities even if you are early on in your academic program at Penn. Learning what employers are looking for in ideal candidates gives you the opportunity to build new skills or seek out new experiences on campus to prepare you for future applications.
